Saving the Constitution of India On the Blockchain

As the recent Political, Social and Economic tensions rise in India, the Democracy and Constitution of India has been put under a Big Question.

There have been questionable moves from the incumbent government MPs to swiftly pass laws and change the constitution of India, without sending it to the Committees.

Something similar has previously happened as well, when 3 farm laws were passed allegedly without consulting the farmers which lead to massive farmers protest and ultimately to the repeal of the laws.

Democracy is a very powerful yet fragile idea. It needs a robust Constitution, inclusiveness of all the people & stakeholders in law making, and its ground level implementation and enforcement for it to survive.

Thus, on the day of 14th April, which is the 134th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar i.e. the “Father of the Constitution of India“, I have decided to upload the Constitution of India on the Filecoin and Arweave blockchains for future generations, institutions and societies to access and safeguard.

This will hopefully make it available to the public in its transparent and immutable form for hundreds if not thousands of years to come.

In 1953’s Indian Parliament debate, Dr. Ambedkar said he was ready to burn the Constitution. He said:

Small communities and small people are always afraid that the majority may harm them. My friends tell me that I have made the constitution. But I want to tell you that I will also be the first person to burn it…

Majority cannot say that we cannot give importance to minorities because it will harm democracy. I must say that harming minority will be most harmful.

Later he adds further why exactly he would want to burn it:

…The reason is that we built a temple for the Lord to live in but before the Lord was installed there, if a demon comes and lives there, apart from demolishing that temple What is fodder? We didn’t make it for the demons to live in. We made it for the deities. That’s why I said that I want to burn it.

If, in case the need arises, the people and the judiciary can refer the Constitution of India stored on Blockchain in its tamperproof form and reboot it to its previous form!

We the people of India, are not just the people of India. We are the people of this world. And we want to share that India is as important as any other country in the world.

And that we believe in not just the JUSTICE, LIBERTY, EQUALITY and FRATERNITY of Indians, which the constitution safeguards, but also of the people of the rest of the World.

Namaste and Jai Bhim!
