STATUS | 🔴 Reminting | 🟢 Reservations | 🟢 Purchases

After much anticipation, the first major addition of the Skelephunks ecosystem is finally live. Welcome to the Graveyard, a way to refine your PFP collection at no cost (except for network gas fees.) Simply put, the Graveyard is a place to send one Skelephunk in exchange for another, with a few different modes of operation. Rather than a “burn mechanism,” the Graveyard provides a “churn mechanism,” accumulating the forfeited tokens as they are exchanged. These tokens can be used to support community giveaways and other growth activities, in addition to the native functionality detailed below.

The Graveyard consists of a new smart contract, located at graveyard.skelephunks.eth, and some additions to the Skelephunks dApp. You can see and interact with the contract for the Graveyard any time by visiting Etherscan. Lets have a look at some ways to use it.

Always send using the dApp, not all transfer methods (including MetaMask send at the time of writing) will trigger a response.

Bury to Remint

Will you bury me? 💍
Will you bury me? 💍

The initial way to use the Skelephunks Graveyard is to send it a token from the dApp (which uses the safeTransferFrom method.) This is called “burying” a token. As long as Reminting is enabled, tokens that are successfully sent to the Graveyard will trigger the minting of a new random token back to your wallet from the Crypt mint reserve allocation. The new token will be drawn from the entire pool of unrevealed tokens in the collection, including all 1/1 Legendary and Archetype Skelephunks.

Reminting has some configurable options that can be adjusted over he life of the collection:

  • Reminting can be enabled or disabled altogether as needed - read on for the other supported operating modes

  • A limit can be set on the total number of remints the Graveyard will provide - this is currently not set, though reminting is initially constrained by other options to avoid abuse of the Crypt

  • A snapshot timestamp can be set to prevent tokens that were minted after that time to be eligible for reminting - this is currently set to the time that the Graveyard contract was deployed. This means no remints can yet be reminted, as they will inevitably have a minted-on timestamp after the current snapshot.

  • A restriction can be set to only enable tokens to be reminted by the wallet that originally minted them - this setting is currently not active.

  • A per-wallet remint limit can also be applied as needed to ensure fair distribution of the Crypt - this is currently set to 22 remints per wallet lifetime.

  • Until renounced, the Graveyard can be paused at any time that the community deems necessary, or in the case of an technical issue

When I die put my SKELE in the grave

Once buried, a token can be found in The Graveyard (app.skelephunks.com/graveyard)

Bury to Swap (Reservations)

Tag, You're It.
Tag, You're It.

The second way to use the Graveyard comes when you see a SKELE you love buried inside. All you will need to do is click and sign the “reserve for swap” button, and then bury any token that you want to trade, and the reserved token becomes yours. Initially, you will have up to 1 hour to complete the swap before it becomes available for others to reserve. You may only have 1 token reserved at any time; reserving a second will automatically cancel the first reservation

Reservations are also configurable so we can adjust the experience slightly as we see how people use them:

  • Reservations can be enabled or disabled at any time. They are initially disabled to keep things simple, drive remints, and allow the Graveyard to accumulate tokens, but when we hit about 10 buried tokens we’ll open up reservations

  • The hold time for reservations can also be tweaked from the 60 minute staring value based on user behavior and community feedback

Backup Mode: Random Swapping

In the case that both remints and reservations are disabled, burying a Skelephunk will default to returning a random token thats already buried. This ensures you always get something in return for your bury transaction.

Skelephunks Are For Everyone
Skelephunks Are For Everyone

If you see a buried Skelephunk that you love but don’t want to bury one that you already have, the Graveyard will enable you to buy it directly for Ether. Initially, the purchase price is pegged to the mint price—which is subject to change to promote new mints. Should the collection mint out, the price can be manually overridden to keep up with market conditions.

The only options available to the purchase system are:

  • Enable/disable purchasing at any time that the community deems necessary

  • Set the purchase price to a custom value or re-peg it to the collection mint price

There they are, three new ways to get more Skelephunks revealed and into the hands of collectors. We hope you enjoy using it and that it leads to more holders finding their “forever Skelephunk” while providing new ways to grow the community.

Enjoy, and happy Reminting ❤️‍🔥 See you in the Graveyard!
