In this guide, I'll walk you through the process of creating, minting, and trading BRC-20 tokens using the Bitcoin network.
Step 1: Setting Up Your Bitcoin Wallet
To interact with, mint, and transfer BRC-20 tokens, you'll need a Bitcoin wallet. Visit Unisat and create a wallet, making sure to choose the Taproot (PT2R) address type.
Step 2: Funding Your Wallet
Fund your wallet with BTC, either by transferring from a centralized exchange or by using a platform like SimpleSwap.
Step 3: Minting Your BRC-20 Tokens
Once your wallet is funded with BTC, you can mint your desired tokens. Go to the Unisat BRC-20 page, add the token ticker, and select your desired token from the list. To mint a specific amount, adjust the multiplier accordingly (be sure to double-check the maximum amount mentioned on the token page).
Step 4: Setting Transaction Fees
To determine the appropriate fees for your transaction, visit Mempool Space. Keep in mind that setting low fees may result in an obsolete transaction if the mint concludes before your transaction is verified. There won't be any refunds in such cases. Also, note that multiplied transactions may incur higher fees.
Step 5: Awaiting Verification
After sending funds with higher fees, wait for your transaction to be verified. Once verified, your BRC-20 tokens will appear in the wallet's BRC-20 section.
Step 6: Listing and Trading Your BRC-20 Tokens
You can list and sell your tokens on the following three marketplaces:
Unisat Market - Major liquidity is available here, but you need 20 points to list and buy tokens. You earn 1 point for each mint.
Ordinal's Wallet BRC-20 - Beware of fake mints on this platform and always double-check on Unisat.
Additional Tips for BRC-20 Token Management
To ensure faster transaction processing, pay 10-20% more than the high-priority fees displayed on Mempool Space.
Avoid deploying tokens that have already been deployed, as they will become obsolete and ultimately useless.
For optimal results, wait for transaction fees to stabilize before sending your transaction.
And that's it! You now have a comprehensive guide to BRC-20 tokens, including how to mint, list, and trade them on the Bitcoin network. As always, be sure to do your own research (DYOR), consider this information as not financial advice (NFA), and stay safe in the world of digital assets.
