It means "to create a new world using blockchain technology. Recently, 【WEB3】 has become a buzzword in the world.
This is a project being developed by the DFINITY Foundation. Here is a quote from the official.
The DFINITY Foundation is a not-for-profit organization developing technology for the Internet Computer blockchain. We are headquartered in Zürich, Switzerland, and have major research centers in Switzerland and California, and remote teams in places such as Germany, the UK and US. Our team of cryptographers, computer scientists and engineers have collectively earned nearly 100,000 academic citations. We aim to create a “blockchain singularity” in which every system and service is rebuilt and reimagined using smart contracts and runs entirely from infinite public blockchain without need for traditional IT.
Reading this, you can understand that the organization is aiming for the "Blockchain Singularity".
This "blockchain singularity" is what I mean when I say that I want to use blockchain technology to optimize the world = WEB3.
So, what are the problems in the world? I would like to investigate the causes.
Internet infrastructure monopoly
In short, it is almost entirely dominated by "GAFA".
Google is so convenient that you search it every day, right? Wait a minute! Are you sick and tired of seeing ads for products I've searched for in the past?
That's because they are extracting your personal information and using it for targeting ads.
Also, have you ever experienced that you can't use multiple services due to AWS server failure?
In fact, there have been times when Slack went down and I couldn't get any work done, or when I was using a messenger group at work and Facebook went down and I couldn't send messages.
Did you know that Facebook (Meta) owns the rights to the images you post on Instagram?
This means that they can use your photos without your permission.
If you lose the app you lose everything. It's all in the terms of service.
Twitter is famous for permanently freezing former President Trump's account, isn't it? How can a company take away the freedom of a former president of the United States? lol (It's America, the land of the free!)
There is more to come.
Do you use Amazon's Kindle books? I live overseas, so I can't use Kindle books of Japan.
If you lose the app, you lose everything. It's all in the terms of service.
Do you use Amazon's Kindle books? I live overseas, so I can't use Kindle books of Japan.
Amazon has different sites for different countries. I have an account in Japan, the U.S., and Canada.
It's not very convenient to have Amazon all over the world, is it? If you want to buy something on Amazon in the U.S. from Japan, you need an account in the U.S. to do so.
As for Kindle, you can only register with the Amazon of your place of residence. How inconvenient!
What's more, all books purchased on Kindle will be deleted if the service is shut down for any reason.
Apple is also famous for its Apple tax. Companies that use the app deduct a fee (Apple tax) when you make a payment in the app.
Apple's fees are too high, aren't they?
Did you know that Epic Games, the company behind the world's most popular game, Fortnite, is suing Apple for antitrust violations? Since the case is pending, the iOS version of Fortnite has been disabled.
This is really close to dictatorship, isn't it? But now that GAFA's services have become part of the infrastructure, there is no way around it.
The WEB3 world is working to solve this problem of "infrastructure monopoly".
The ICP project is also working to solve this problem with a great vision.
WBTC is Bitcoin's staple coin and is centralized. It is somewhat risky.
It would be convenient if you could move bitcoins directly through ICP.
ICP will allow you to manipulate coins over an internet connection. Currently, you have to activate a metamask every time you want to do something, like approve something.
But with ICP, you can use applications such as DeFi as if it were your normal life.
It's like loading a bitcoin wallet in a browser and sending money with fingerprint authentication.
This is what Dominic Williams, the founder of ICP, has to say about it.
Pancake Swap and Uniswap are famous for distributing airdrops.
That's what I think will happen at ICP in the future.
ICPSwap will act as a hub for Internet computers.
ICPSwap allows users and developers to collaboratively build projects, with token creation, trading, distribution, allocation, project operation, and marketing being handled by the DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization).
I believe that a decentralized finance ecosystem will be established.
On June 15, 2021, the ICP development environment was released to the public, and many applications can be built on the ICP chain.
It is expected that many DeFi systems will also come in, with ICPSwap as the forerunner.
Currently, the testnet is open to the public (Beta2.0), and you can try out various features and send feedback.
We will send NFTs to those who have completed various tasks, so the project is very friendly to early users.
In 2022, a government token, ICS, will also be issued. This will also be a replication of the pancake swap if it is returned to the early users.
I am going to actively participate in the ICP project with high expectations.
