In this article you will learn about Dynamic NFTs, how passports go dynamic and how you can add your traits to the Passports you hold/own.

Revealing Passport’s first utility : “Fully on-chain ID Card”

As you may already know, at this moment Sui City Passports are your only way of access to the SuiCity Mainnet. Now that the mint is done & we’ve reached our total supply, we’re going to present to you SuiCity Passport’s first Utility.
This Utility makes you a “Fully On-chain ID Card” and are considered to be known as Dynamic NFTs.

Dynamic vs Static NFTs
Now before we dig into that, let’s see what’s the difference between a Dynamic NFT and other NFTs.
There are many types of NFTs out there but most of them fit into these 2 categories :

• Static NFTs

• Dynamic NFTs

  Static or Immutable NFTs are what we’ve been seeing from the start. Non-Fungible Tokens that are considered fixed traits and represent a single version of a digital asset. they can’t change throughout time and will remain the same. But on the other hand, there are Dynamic or Mutable NFTs that based on its nature, can change or evolve or adapt to different circumstances. Imagine NFTs that can be customizable and will evolve every time a certain thing occurs on-chain.

What are the Traits?

Now that we’ve had a glimpse of what Dynamic NFTs are, let’s dig into the real deal which are passports and what they can offer to its holders. In the New version of Passports, you can set/add new on-chain traits to it. But what are the traits?

Since it is ID card, you can add your:

• Nickname

• PFP (Profile Picture)

• Social Handle

• Website

• Where you come From

How can I add them?
Simply following the steps below will help you find out how you can add the traits to your Passport to make it your on-chain Social Identity.

Step 1:
Please use a desktop browser for more convenience.
Go to this Link or type this in your browser : https://suicitynft.fun/utilities
And connect your wallet.

In the “VIEW UPDATED ID CARD” section, add one of your ID Tokens (which is the number of your NFT e.g. 321) & click on the VIEW UPDATED ID CARD button.

Step 2:
After doing the previous step, two links will appear for you. Click on “CLICK TO VIEW YOUR ID CARD”.
If out of Curiosity you haven’t dug in our smart contract before, you will probably come across the following picture :

Step3:
Are the traits empty? Don’t worry!
Go to the “ADD ITEMS TO ID” section and fill in the blanks :

“ENTER A TOKEN ID THAT YOU OWN”
Enter the Token ID that you own, which you want to build your ID on.
“ENTER NICKNAME”
You can enter any name you want to be called in SuiCity (you can always change it, just like the other traits).
“THE IPFS CID”
In this section you should enter any IPFS CID pointed to any png, jpg or gif you want.
your IPFS should be addressed like the format below without having the “ipfs://” or “ipfs.io/ipfs”.

For instance :
This is the IPFS CID of our logo we added to token ID #100: QmW3VN81rZxgUPw46uwdhiGba2qNHWTdyAwh4763y4MuGF

If you don’t have any IPFS CID then don’t worry. You can use any “pin to IPFS provider” like “pinata.cloud” and after signing up, you can upload your file and get your IPFS hash.

“ENTER YOUR SOCIAL HANDLE”
in this part, you can add your favorable social platform handle. Note that it has to be like the format below with “https://” :

or
https://discord.gg/yourCoolDiscord

“ENTER YOUR WEBSITE”
at this part you can add any other link you like, even using services that gather many links into one (like link3, linktree, etc.). but do have in mind that you have to use/enter the full format with “https://”.

“CAME FROM”
This is the fun part, and it’s totally up to you. You can say where you’ve come from to the SuiCity. Be creative!

Now after double checking everything, click on “Request ID card” and after getting ready, click on “GET ID CARD”, pay the gas fees and… done!

make sure to check “VIEW UPDATED ID CARD” and after 20 or 30 seconds (To make sure your transaction has been processed by the blockchain). Now click on “VIEW UPDATED ID CARD” and voila!! Now you can see your “Fully on-chain” ID card!

By clicking “COPY TO CLIPBOARD” you can access your ID card’s URI. With pasting this URI into your browser link bar you can check your ID card even when you’re Offline! How cool is that?

Currently this utility is at its beta version and your passports picture won’t change in the marketplace but you can showboat your Passport to others by sharing its URI to other users.
This utility will be released in a fancier way and also with more & more functionalities in SuiCity.

Just in case that if you wanted to sell your Passport, make sure to replace your Inputs with “ – “ before listing in marketplace.

Do have in mind that the utility of the Passports you hold, isn’t limited just to this one and there’s more to come.
