When every morning their user wakes them up
Scrolls through a few sites
And tweets about the cringe moments in their day-to-day life
Moving inch by inch in city traffic
Only serving the purpose of fueling an insatiable ego
Wondering if they’ll ever meet the quota
Of an influencers addiction to views and Insta likes
They probably would long for the day
That their owner would be a developer or race car driver
Someone that would say “Let’s build together”
They’re traded in 18 months later
For the next best thing with a shiny new screen
Only to be recycled, unused, and devalued
Because consumerism has convinced us
That we can be Michelangelo, if only we had the right brush
The new model, the right brush, the latest PC
Will only fulfill one purpose that the previous one could not
Inflating the illusion of the consumer’s potential
Get a Ferrari, but commit to building a race track
Don’t acquire talent, just to fill a trophy case on LinkedIn
People are not sports cars, nor are they the latest Apple release
Talent acquisition can only be optimized, once talent is recognized
And given the opportunity to be in an environment where they can thrive
