Dear America: Letter 21

Dear America,

It has been some time since my last letter. To be honest with you, the tumult and tension of this election year have taken their toll. Most Americans anticipated that this would not be a typical election; and indeed, it has lived up to that expectation.

Since my last letter in June, several significant events have unfolded: President Biden has “forcibly” withdrawn from the race, with Vice President Kamala Harris stepping up as the Democratic nominee.  Robert Kennedy, Jr. has exited the race and thrown his support behind President Trump, who, just weeks prior, survived a not-so-shocking assassination attempt on his life. Though it is said every election cycle, it is true that now we find ourselves just months away from what feels like the most pivotal election in our nation's history.

In just four short years, we have witnessed significant damage inflicted upon our great nation. Reckless and misguided government spending has led to an astronomical increase in our national debt. The consequence? Sky-high inflation, despite the administration's attempts to convince us otherwise. It doesn't take an expert to see that the cost of goods has risen dramatically over the past couple of years. If you ask the average hard-working American, they will tell you that the prices of everything—from groceries to utilities and even insurance bills—have surged.  More importantly, the American Dream is no longer attainable for millions of Americans.

Moreover, we face an unemployment rate of around 4%; yet, we can’t even trust this administration's figures. The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently revised its job growth estimates for the last twelve months downward by 818,000. We are facing an economy that is, unfortunately, teetering on the brink of a great recession, a situation for which the American public is woefully unprepared, regardless of who holds office.

In addition to the economic crisis, we are grappling with a massive immigration issue that Harris, as vice president, was appointed to address. Instead, our borders have been thrust wide open, permitting — even welcoming — millions of migrants to enter our country and receive benefits funded by the hard-earned tax dollars of American workers. Liberal cities have eagerly embraced these migrants by declaring themselves sanctuary cities. In New York, I’ve witnessed first hand how thousands of migrants are processed daily and housed in luxurious hotels.

This issue, however, extends beyond merely allowing migrants entry. Liberal jurisdictions have taken additional steps to ease their integration. The Mayor of New York, Eric Adams, has initiated a $53 million pilot program that provides migrants with prepaid debit cards, allowing them to buy food and baby supplies of their choice. In Minnesota, Governor Tim Walz, Harris's running mate on the Democratic ticket, signed legislation permitting all residents, regardless of immigration status, to apply for a driver's license or an ID card. More recently, the California Senate passed a bill to provide financial assistance to illegal immigrants for purchasing homes. Though this bill was vetoed by Governor Gavin Newsom, it underscores the extent of the Democratic Party's irrational policies.

The ramifications of the flawed Democratic border policies extend beyond just economic. The open borders has ushered in some of South America's most dangerous criminals. In a scenario that seems taken straight from a movie, heavily armed Venezuelan migrants have occupied apartment buildings in Aurora, Colorado. It is believed that these Venezuelans are part of a violent gang involved in a slew of criminal activities, including human trafficking—particularly targeting immigrant women and girls—drug trafficking, kidnapping, extortion, and money laundering.

On a global scale, America has lost its footing as the world leader, resulting in diminished respect from other nations. Consequently, countries have sought leadership elsewhere, turning to nations like China and Russia, which have successfully enhanced their standings on the world stage. This shift is evident in the strengthening and expansion of the BRICS alliance - viewed as a rival to the G7 bloc. Originally founded in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, with South Africa joining in 2010, BRICS has recently seen significant growth. The alliance now includes new members such as Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia is contemplating membership, and Turkey has formally requested to join.

It should come as no surprise that the BRICS alliance is exploring alternatives to the US dollar, including the creation of their own reserve currencies. This inclination to move away from the US dollar stems directly from perceived weaknesses in American leadership and its standing in the global economy. Even Saudi Arabia, a long-term American trade partner, is taking significant steps to reduce its reliance on the US dollar in oil trading—a marked shift from the decades-old petrodollar system. Instead, Saudi Arabia is diversifying its trade currencies, now including the Chinese yuan, euros, and yen among others.

One might think that four tumultuous years under the Biden Administration, marked by either sheer incompetence or deliberately disastrous policies, would drive Americans to seek a change - one that may reign the Democratic party in from these new and radical ideologies. Haven’t we Americans suffered enough? Yet, here I am, writing this letter, astonished that there are citizens actually serious about casting their votes for Harris. I'm not referring to the staunch 'Never Trumpers'—those who would never vote for Trump under any circumstances. These individuals have been thoroughly misled by the mainstream media's distorted narratives. I, too, am not addressing the far-left extremists advocating for the radical Marxist policies Harris seems to embrace. My concern lies with moderate Democrats who were disillusioned with Biden and were leaning towards Trump—that is, until Harris entered the race. Somehow, these voters seem to have completely disconnected Harris from her role in the Biden Administration, overlooking her contributions to the very policies they once criticized under President Biden.

Perhaps these individuals are being swayed by the media's concerted effort to bolster Harris. In June, an NBC poll indicated that Harris was regarded as one of the least liked Vice Presidents in modern history. Now, with the media's support, you might think she's the next President Obama or President Kennedy; however, her "progressive" policies position her as more radical than these past presidents. For instance, her approach to combating high food prices involves enacting price controls—a tactic straight out of socialist playbooks like Venezuela's. Observing Venezuela and other socialist countries illustrates the potential consequences of government interference in the free market under the guise of making prices "fair." Farmers, unable to ensure a return on investment or even cover production costs, may cut back on production. This could lead to even higher prices or food shortages, the likes of which our country has never seen before.

Additionally, Harris proposes taxing unrealized capital gains for individuals with a net worth of $100 million or more. While I am not opposed to the wealthy paying their fair share of taxes, the idea of taxing unrealized gains is economically nonsensical and fundamentally flawed. This approach represents an extreme measure against the wealthy, targeting their assets in a way that is unprecedented. How can one be taxed on gains that have not yet been realized? What implications would this have for real estate properties? There’s no other way to describe this policy other than capital punishment.

As expected, Harris’ policies—possibly influenced by her father, who is a Marxist economics professor—do not aim to foster job creation or innovation. Instead, they are underpinned by higher taxes and increased government intervention in the lives of everyday Americans. Imposing higher taxes on corporations will likely compel them to lay off workers and raise prices to satisfy shareholders. As usual, it will be the hard-working Americans who bear the brunt of these decisions.  I believe that a country reliant on funding its operations through the taxation of its citizens is a nation on the brink of decline. It's a country that has moved away from valuing innovation and hard work — a nation that has, in essence, given up on itself. The American people need a reason to get up every day, and a Harris presidency foreshadows a future that seems scarcely worth fighting for, let alone contributing to. A Harris administration positions itself in a manner reminiscent of failed nations with tyrannical, socialist, and communist governments that sought to rule over their citizens. It will be the final nail in the coffin for the American Dream and the great American experiment.

That said, Harris may represent a dangerous choice for our future; but, it is up to President Trump to follow through on his commitment to bettering America and its people. Our country is navigating a perilous period that began 8 years ago when President Trump first ran for office in 2015. He must remain a beacon of freedom in the darkness of our culture. The political elites have engaged us in a war, not of the traditional kind, but one of ideologies, waged on the minds of American citizens through disinformation and propaganda. This ideological conflict has led to severe political polarization, deepening divisions among the American people, and a widespread disregard for common sense. We have drifted away from the basic moral principles that traditionally guided American citizens into prosperity. The repercussions of this war have been felt economically, physically, and spiritually. I cannot be the only one sensing the depressive state enveloping our country. A dark cloud seems to hang over our nation, casting us into a strange and stagnant purgatory. Are we to believe that the pinnacle of our nation's greatness lies behind us? Are we doomed to never again witness great art and innovation? I refuse to accept that as our fate.

To reverse this course towards our collapse, our nation requires a wartime president, one who will do whatever it takes to protect American citizens. We need a leader who can restore and fortify the foundations that have eroded over recent years. We need a president who can reclaim our global dominance and respect overseas. We need a president who can revive the cultural ethos that has been overshadowed by pervasive woke ideologies. We need a president dedicated solely to serving this country and no other.  We need a President who will make the American Dream attainable and worth fighting for once more. It is my hope that President Trump will embody these principles and steadfastly uphold them should he be re-elected. There must be no compromise or retreat from the commitments he has made. Failure to do so would not only be a tremendous letdown to the millions of supporters who have stood by him, but it would also mean that the next four years might simply postpone the inevitable for 2028—a Marxist takeover that has been gaining momentum over the last eight years.

I began writing these letters primarily to voice my concerns about our nation's trajectory under President Biden's administration. For many, the overtly authoritarian tendencies of this administration have reignited a sense of patriotism not seen in quite some time. Like many Americans, I am hopeful that we will soon move past this challenging period in our history, away from the current draining and disheartening political climate. Therefore, this will be my last letter until after the November election, as I feel I have expressed all I can about my stance. I hope that our country can emerge from this dark period and advance toward a new golden age, one which reinvigorates the collective American spirit. I envision a time when we, as Americans, are celebrated for propelling humanity into the next phase of our evolution, enriching not only our nation but also the human spirit.

I believe that we are poised to witness more significant events as we approach the elections. I hold a strong belief that this year's election might deviate from traditional norms. Given everything that has transpired over the last eight years against President Trump, how can we anticipate a fair and safe election? To understand the nature of power and what some are willing to do to maintain it, we must refer back to the patterns of history. How many times have we seen the lengths an establishment is willing to go to prevent dissension?

Perhaps I am mistaken, and on November 5th, we will cast our votes, and by November 6th, we will know who our President is. Regardless, by 2025, a new chapter in American history will begin. It will either herald the start of Trump’s third act—an era where he could be remembered for steering our nation back towards prosperity—or it will be marked by the onset of a new era dominated by radical leftism. If there is one certainty in the universe, it is change. Whether this change will be for better or worse, only God knows. It is my belief that over the last eight years, we have ventured through dark caves and battled dragons. I fervently hope that we emerge victorious, having secured the treasure for which we so desperately need. We have certainly faced our trials and tribulations and I hope we have learned and grown stronger from them. I pray that God has mercy on us because no matter the path we take, America is undoubtedly on the cusp of significant transformation.

Signed,

G.S.P.
