Anatomy of a Timeline Game Card

  1. Types: these indicate the type of manifestation each card is. Some are “permanents”, which remain on the timeline until otherwise removed, while others are more like spells - or posts that get deleted not long after sending.

  2. This main block of text is where the crux of the card is. If it is a permanent manifestation like a creature, which the Void Nymph is, it may have an activatable ability like this one does. The number in brackets indicates the number of posts needed to activate this ability. A card may have a passive ability which activates without spending resources, instead of an activated one, or in tandem.

  3. This is flavor text, where some kind of detail about a card is expanded upon. Much of the narrative in Timeline Game is revealed through this, however many of these are there solely to add more context or flavor to a card. Not all cards have flavor text.

  4. This is the requirement in posts - or “posting cost” - to manifest this card. Each orb represents one post needed. In Void Nymph’s case, four posts is the cost. This is relatively expensive, however with a high cost usually comes more power within the card. Void Nymph is an expensive card to manifest and relatively expensive to activate, but it is a decent card on combat stats alone - and very effective at eliminating a high-value target when its ability (Null Embrace) is activated.

  5. These are the combat stats. When a manifestation attacks, the opponent may designate a blocker. They each do damage equal to their respective ATK stat, to the other card’s respective DEF stat. If either card has a DEF stat of zero or less at any point during an instance of combat, that card is sent to the recycling bin.

  6. This is the rarity icon. Void Nymph is a rare card, meaning twenty-two exist.

  7. Last but not least - the serial number is what makes each Timeline Game token “non-fungible” - there is only one of each number for a given card. So Void Nymph #1 here - if this was the OpenSea page for the NFT, that would be the only Void Nymph #1. As a rare card, there are 22 total Void Nymphs, so serialized Void Nymph NFTs go from #1 up to #22.
