Today, we’re launching a large-scale Web3 Contributor Survey and open-sourcing its results as a public good!
The research will tap into tr3butor’s wide-reaching network of contributors and organization partners to conduct surveys among existing Web3 contributors as well as those interested in becoming one, covering both tech and non-tech positions.
As a token of appreciation, survey participants will receive a special Participator OAT (on-chain achievement token), which is not only delightful to look at but also serves one of the three OATs you need to collect to mint a tr3butor Genesis NFT.
In the spirit of open source and the freedom of ideas, the survey results will be shared openly with the broader Web3 community rather than being exclusive to the tr3butor.
Why Is This Important?
Every mature industry relies on market intelligence and data. If you can't make data-driven decisions, then you're in a very risky situation.
We hope that the survey output will yield data-driven insights into the demographics, behaviors and attitudes of the Web3 talent pool.
This can potentially benefit all stakeholders in the ecosystem, including the employers, contributors, recruiters, educators and even investors who collectively impact the Web3 onboarding experience and can help crypto reach its full potential.
We are not the first nor the only ones to believe in the power of data.
The truly insightful survey reports by Bankless and Gitcoin focusing on DAO contributors and Project X-Ray by MakerDAO SES focusing on developers have already pushed forward a better understanding of contributors in this space.
To expand on this knowledge, tr3butor’s Web3 Contributor Survey will target respondents that represent Web3 contributors across all the diverse roles and organizations in Web3 - from developers to community managers to business development and beyond.
Survey Goals, Topics & Mechanics
The survey dives into the behaviors and preferences of Web3 contributors in finding and securing opportunities in Web3.
It explores the profiles of Web3 contributors, their journey into crypto, what they value in working in Web3, how they source their news, their views towards skills development and trends in payment and compensation.
Some examples of questions found in our survey:
- How did you get into crypto?
- What ecosystems have you worked with?
- Do you prefer to remain anonymous or reveal your IRL identity?
- What do you hate about working in Web3?
- How many hours a week do you spend on Web3 research and self-education?
- Do you invest in some early-stage start-ups?
All survey participants will be eligible to claim the Participator OAT which is one of three badges required to mint a tr3butor Genesis NFT.
The survey opens on August 3rd, 2022 and will last for 6 weeks or until the number of responses reaches statistical significance. Once that happens, we’ll open source the raw data and prepare a full report as a landing page or PDF download.
We also plan to create a series of publications that provide in-depth analysis focused on specific trends, which will be shared to the public for the benefit of the Web3 ecosystem and business community at large.
