Introduction
After a few busy months of shipping new features and refining the Omni Mainnet Private Beta, we’re excited to share that referrals are now enabled for everyone on the platform. All users are now able to generate their own unique referral code and start onboarding friends after meeting a volume requirement.
How Omni’s Referrals Work
At a high level, referrals on Omni function similarly to other referral programs: once you obtain a referral code, you can invite new users through your referral and earn rewards based upon their activity.
Since the Omni Mainnet is still in Private Beta, referral code uses will be limited. Once users set up their referral code, they will see its number of “available uses.” Additional referral code uses can be obtained either through additional trading/referred volume or occasional drops by the Variational team.
Referral Rewards
The referral page does not yet display earned rewards. This functionality will be added in the near future, with referral rewards retroactively applied based on past referral activity.
Since Omni does not have fees, referral rewards will be based on a simple percentage of referred volume, rather than a percentage of fees paid by referred users. Further details on the rewards structure will be shared when referral rewards are enabled.
Future Plans
Referrals will be a core pillar of Omni’s growth strategy moving forward. We have extensive plans for expanding referrals in the future, including:

Lowering the volume requirements to get more code uses (making more codes available)

Implementing referral rewards tracking and claiming functionality

Adding referral/platform rewards tiers

Removing the limit on referral code uses once the Omni Public Mainnet is launched

Interlinking the referral program and our upcoming points program
Conclusion
Today’s launch of simple referral functionality is an important milestone on the path to Omni’s Public Mainnet, allowing users to invite their friends to trade and earn future referral rewards. While codes will likely remain scarce, we’re excited to welcome more early users to the platform. We have big plans for the referral program going forward, and it will remain an important part of Omni’s growth flywheel for the foreseeable future.
