As of today, the Omni testnet now requires an access code to create an account and begin trading.
Why Add Access Codes To Testnet?
Two reasons: to gate testnet, and to test the private mainnet referral flow.
1. Gating Testnet
We’d like to limit the number of users (and bots) on testnet. After running three highly successful trading competitions, we are confident in Omni’s ability to handle significant load and have made countless optimizations in preparation for extreme load on mainnet. However, due to performance limitations of Arbitrum Sepolia and other test infrastructure, Omni testnet is unable to scale to the same user counts as mainnet (deployed on Arbitrum One). To avoid a poor user experience on testnet, we’ve decided to implement this program as a way to regulate growth.
2. Testing Private Mainnet Gating
Private mainnet is just around the corner and new sign-in flows need to be tested. The Omni referral program will be the key piece gating the platform during early-access/private mainnet, and will continue to be important well into the public mainnet. While there is currently no benefit to referring users on testnet, this early implementation allows us to battle-test referral codes before putting incentives behind them in the private and public mainnet.
How Can I Get An Access Code?
There are two places to get a code:
-
Our team will occasionally release codes with a limited number of uses in the Omni Waiting Room chat in Discord. This chat room is only accessible to users who have joined the mainnet waitlist in Discord.
-
Users who have already successfully onboarded to the testnet after inputting an access code will be given access codes in the future to distribute to friends. If you have a friend who’s already trading on testnet, ask them if they have a code, and if you can use it!
As a thank you for reading our article, we’re sharing this first access code (500 available uses) here: HAPPYTRADING
Happy trading!
