Chakra: Decentralized Mythmaking

Intro to the World of Chakra

Preface

This article introduces the overarching principles driving our game and ecosystem design in Chakra.

“Crypto (gaming) isn’t a magical solution that rains money on everyone,” - Eva Wu. However, beyond this illusion lies a shared adventure enabled by the internet’s next evolution.

What do we mean by this?

Chakra is a collaborative storytelling platform that enables players to participate in (and create) shared adventures, brought to life through gaming. Chakra leverages the power of myth (culture), gaming (product), and web3 (commerce & infrastructure) to create this shared narrative.

Why Mythmaking?

Myth represents a collective endeavor that transcends individual authorship, as well as the boundaries of geography and time. They are essential expressions of the human experience and its collective wisdom.

Myths are the primordial memes that continually give birth to new worlds as they travel through the collective imagination, connecting us to the eternal rhythms of life and the inexhaustible wellspring of meaning.

‘Myth-making as a phenomenon is as decentralized as they come. Hence, a core tenet for Chakra.’

Why Gaming?

Gaming is the intersection of mind-blowing art & bleeding-edge tech, entertainment & engineering, immersion & interaction. But also, it's our bread and butter. We're a gaming studio. Being "crypto-native" is an add-on.

The gaming thesis for crypto is extremely bullish. It's the lowest hanging bonafide fruit to onboard the next 100 million users to web3. It almost seems like web3 was primarily invented to address the frustrations of gamers and the very online.

’Post factum, this will become very obvious.’

Why Web3?

Web3 sets the stage for a self-sovereign financial system, an open contributor/creator economy, and a universal digital representation and ownership layer via NFTs.

  • Utilizing NFTs to establish verifiable digital ownership, enable seamless transferability, and create unique identifiers for enhanced gaming experiences.

  • Employing Fungible Tokens to equitize participants within the ecosystem, incentivize desired behaviors, and provide a native unit of account for commerce and value capture.

  • Leveraging DeFi and decentralized governance to create a transparent, accessible, and self-regulating ecosystem.

  • “I happily played World of Warcraft during 2007-2010, but one day Blizzard removed the damage component from my beloved warlock’s Siphon Life spell. I cried myself to sleep, and on that day I realized what horrors centralized services can bring.” - Vitalik Buterin

Ending this thread with an old quote from the Emperor of Man back-shadowing this chain of thought. Hopefully, no one will have to cry themselves to sleep in the near future.

The prime directive: to create a well-defined yet boundless fantasy meta-world inspired by millennia-old Eastern mythologies.

"Myths grow like crystals, according to their own recurrent pattern; but there must be a suitable core to start their growth." - Arthur Koestler

We’re here to create a successful gaming ecosystem

  • That could mean widespread adoption within (and into web3).

  • That could mean a pat on the back from the gaming industry.

  • That could mean commercial success.

  • That could mean we create a sustainable financial framework for decentralized expansion.

  • That could also mean we do it all.

This is our “Hello World” moment. More intel coming soon.
