Re-Based Ghouls by XWAVE: A super-quick investment thesis

Re-Based Ghouls by XWAVE are Based Ghouls derivatives created — as the name states — by XWAVΞ.

As of the time of this writing, I own seven.

Here’s why I like them.

They’re scarce

The total supply is an objectively scarce 666 tokens, which are currently owned — as of the time of this writing — by 542 owners. This means that the average Re-Based Ghouls by XWAVE holder does not own two tokens. (1.22878228782, to be exact.)

Again — for the sake of full disclosure — I own seven, making me the seventh-largest holder.

They look rare

Taste in art is subjective. That said, I genuinely like the art.

While I’m a fan of the pixel-art style of Based Ghouls, many in the OG collection don’t do anything for me, personally — or I think they simply don’t look good. The first one I purchased two months ago is a simple red Ghoul on a black background with no additional traits. That’s what I dig. Some of the busier ones aren’t really my style. (Though I love the not-so-plain one I currently use as the avatar for my currently empty gaming Mirror: shovelware.eth.)

Personally, I think there aren’t really any bad-looking Re-based Ghouls. by XWAVE. Pound for pound, I think the derivative collection looks better.

They’re cheap

As of the time of this writing, the floor price for Re-Based Ghouls by XWAVE is 0.07 ETH on OpenSea. That’s roughly 113 United States dollars at current ETH prices.

In my personal opinion, I don’t think 113 USD is really too big of an ask for a legitimately artistic derivative of a mildly popular (among crypto people) NFT project — particularly when there aren’t very many listed and the total supply is only 666 tokens. There are currently 31 listed on Gem and 31 listed on sudoswap. The floor isn’t very deep.

Conclusion: They’re baste

To sum up my rather brief and simple thoughts on Re-Based Ghouls by XWAVE:

  • There aren’t very many of them in total.
  • There aren’t very many of them for sale.
  • I like the art.
  • They’re cheap.

That’s why I’m buying them and may continue to buy them. I may sell some, too, but not around these prices.
