What is ZKM?
Zongo Kids Movement
Is an African movement of creatives which aims to improve the lives of people in and around the Zongo (Informal Housing Settlements). This is a way to help the people through positive outlets that nurture, grow and hone their talents in a safe, practical and creative way. We are teaching and highlighting African culture through NFT’s, created and led by the people in the movement. The goal is to get the youths off the streets and provide a route where they can utilize their creative talents through; film production, web development, creative writing, music production, animation, etc. ZKM is striving to develop a collective of the people, by the people and for the people. ZKM is developing a DAO that would not just encompass Web3, but also help the forgotten boys and girls of African cities and beyond. ZKM is expanding the continued narrative by teaching others about African culture, heritage, traditions, etc using Web3.
We’re a movement that will make a positive impact for the Zongo. We will follow through with the initiatives planned in this DAO with full transparency using the blockchain.
Bringing the Change
Trotro
Mini buses are the most common means of transportation in the African Continent and each country has a different name for it. In Ghana, it’s called “Trotro” which means “small small”. Each Trotro has a Driver and a Mate responsible of the continued operations of their Mini bus. Most Trotros are colourful and bright. They have different types of inscriptions on the back of the Trotro such as, proverbs and mottoes. The inscription is personal to the Driver and reflects upon their life and what they have experienced. ZKM is determined to change the narrative by linking Freelance Artists to work with the Mates and Drivers to portray their messages to the world.
The Drivers, Mates, and Freelance Artists are creating the NFT’s that are featured in our collections. The proceeds from these sales are going back to the people to provide for their families, repair any damages on the Trotros, etc. This also helps the Drivers purchase the Trotro from the owners.
The money earned from our projects will go directly back to the community.
Funding & Distribution:
- From the sale of each NFT 50% of the profits will go to the artists (Mates, Trotro Drivers and Freelance Artists)
- 25% of the proceeds from each NFT will go to a '“ZKM” DAO (treasury) that is for the Trotro Drivers, Mates and Freelance Artists. This will help provide financial equity for any fees or damages that may occur during their job (accidents, repair costs, as well as assisting the drivers in purchasing their Trotros from their owners, etc.)
- As the treasury grows we plan to expand the funding to invest in local community organizations and businesses.
- 12.5% of the proceeds from each NFT will go towards installing a Crypto ATM, in Ghana
- 12.5% of the proceeds from each NFT will go towards operational costs (Equipment, Wi-Fi, Hands on Training, Creative Work Space, etc.)
With the purchase of each NFT we will be issuing 2 Tokens:
Hene Token
- Membership Token for those who will be directly using the treasury's assets (Drivers, Mates and Freelance Artists)
Baakoyɛ Token
- Membership Token for those who have donated or bought an NFT
- An original 1/1 Trotro NFT will be given to each Baakoyɛ Token holder
- This Token serves as a direct line to the Mates, Trotro Drivers and Freelance Artists of the “ZKM” DAO.
These are the basics of what the 2 tokens will do. We will be continually updating the tokenomics as the “ZKM” DAO expands.
Our goal in Web3 is to increase the accessibility of cryptocurrency and its associated use cases in the African Continent. This will give the youth a way to educate themselves while using their creative outlet to showcase and profit from their work. This will give opportunities for those negatively affected by their environment to find an escape through their art. The African Continent has the youngest population in the world, because of this we know that it’s important to educate them about Crypto and Web3. They can continually enhance, gain and profit off of their art. Cryptocurrency will fundamentally change Africa, and we will lead that change.
