The system of functions in the traditional cities are scattered on the public chains of isolated platforms, and the incompatibility due to varying platform specifications is becoming a major challenge to the next stage of metaverse infrastructure development. Meanwhile, the irregular metaverse stronghold has become a nest for various criminal activities and the survival of refugees. Large-scale criminal organizations and enterprises colluding with one another, became a constant threat to the regular operation of the city and the safety of ordinary citizens.

To celebrate his 30th term successful election, FrankMII, the mayor of New York, formally announced the invitation to architects and planners worldwide for the “Terminus City” planning project. The expectation is to build an all-ecological metaverse city that integrates all functions of the traditional urban environment and give it the opportunity to reborn in the metaverse. He hopes this brand-new "invisible city" can become a new starting point for human urban civilization.

Contest Theme

Taking [Cyberpunk] as the conceptual element, urban design is carried out for the Ultiverse metaverse city. Ultiverse is a well-known AAA gaming-level metaverse that can incorporate VR technology. The winning entries of this contest will have the opportunity to become an essential reference for the Metacity construction of Ultiverse. Those who are finally adopted will also become the highest-level honorary members of the Ultiverse Meta-Universe and enjoy special rights.

Terminus City will contain the following functional areas, each containing one or two main buildings.

a. City Hall

Ultimate Center. The original hall of Terminus city is the birthplace of all citizens. There, citizens will set foot on this world for the first time, and through the gate of the ultimate center, they will be free to travel to other areas of the city.

b. Art & Culture District

UExhibition, the exhibition hall of Terminus City. The vast exhibition hall can host various events, conferences, and music festivals. It also houses all the art collections in Terminus City.

Star Gallery, an art gallery owned by ES-Ult. Here, precious paintings from the ES-Ult collection will be displayed, and auctions will be held at a fixed time every year.

c. CBD

ES-Ult headquarters building. ES-Ult was a humanoid robot manufacturer in its early years, and then it invented human body modification technology and significantly upgraded the core technology of humanoid robots. People only call it "The Company" because it has completely dominated the market and is the wealthiest. This impressive expensive ES-Ult headquarters building stands like a pantheon in the city's center. No matter where you are, you can't avoid this solemn, gorgeous, and coldly colossal building.

Galaxy Mall, where citizens can freely buy or trade everything, including weapons, creatures, ships, vehicles, etc.

d. Entertainment District

Woods Arcade. The source of joy in the city, full of gaming devices, citizens can win prizes in any mini-game.

Regular residential areas. Large areas planned by the government for ordinary citizens.

High-end privileged apartment. Deadpan robots and attentive human housekeepers guard this area. Aside from these strict defenses, ordinary people will feel oppressed by approaching.

Temporary refugee quarantine area. Used initially to isolate homeless people who were virus-infected and the failed products of human instrumentation experiments. However, as the number of people increased, several riots occurred daily, and these chaotic trends expanded.

g. Urban green area and landscape

Based on the varied terrain, the citizens of Terminal City have enough options for walking and camping, Whether seaside or the huge central park. However, it should be noted that not all areas are suitable for entry and exit. Such as the places rebellious refugees haunt, and the mysterious special zones for the powerful that keep the ordinary out.

For any talent with urban planning, design, architecture, or related experience, we welcome you to submit entries through the MUADAO official competition page in the form of individuals, groups, or studios.

Design and production

The theme of this competition is Ultiverse metaverse urban planning, which must contain relevant elements of Cyberpunk.

The design content must be a complete urban planning proposal, including the following:

(1) Design concept and inspiration

(2) City name

(3) City map

• You will organize a city map made of 10,000 blocks, each one 40m*40m big, without limiting the shape of the blocks and focusing on functional division.

• The map needs to be divided into multiple districts and mark the names and functions.

• Theme color is important but not necessary.

(4) City Module Rules/Specifications:

• Present the specific district module/ block module designed with detailed constructions

• Present the rules on how to organize the modules organically into the city map

• The city can be made of detailed module duplications

• Describe the convincing logic of the module arrangement

(5) City Analysis - Functional Planning diagram:

• Present the analysis diagram of urban planning design for people to understand your design concept or idea

• Any representative diagram is acceptable

(6) Key building location & articulation

• Highlight the key buildings/ areas/blocks' location

• Describe the relationship between buildings and adjacency

• Give specific building sizes, including height, width, and length

• The key buildings that must be included in the design are the Binance skyscraper, Sequoia skyscraper, and Ultiverse center/ building.

We support pictures and videos, supplemented by descriptive texts to upload and submit your work. If you have relevant preview links, you can also fill them in on the submission page.

Image upload format: 1400x1400 or higher is recommended, and the maximum size is 15MB.

Video upload format: no more than 50MB. Only MP4, WebM, and Ogg are supported. The recommended video size ratio is 1:1.

Jury Mechanism

The MUA Design competition employs a rigorous decentralized scoring mechanism which supports a community wide participatory process through our specialized competition webpage.

For each submission entry, every community member can score based on four categories and score in the range of 1-10.

The badge system allows community members of various professional levels to differentiate in terms of scoring weightage.

The rules of this competition stipulates that all participants who take the initiative to participate in this call for entries are deemed to have made the following irrevocable declaration regarding the copyright ownership of the submitted works.

1、Declaration of Originality
The entry must be the original work of the participant and cannot infringe any patent, copyright, trademark or other proprietary rights of any third party individuals and entities without being authorized to do so. Once the non-original works are verified, the competition organizer has the right to immediately disqualify them from participating, entering and winning prizes, withdraw the award and reserve the right to pursue legal action. If the competition organizer is sued or other losses are incurred as a result, the organizer has the right to require the participants to make full compensation; if the competition organizer has paid in advance, it has the right to require the participants to cover all direct and indirect costs (including but not limited to attorney fees, litigation fees, security fees, appraisal fees, notary fee, etc.).

2、Declaration of Rights
(1) The participants, MUADAO and Ultiverse jointly own the copyright of the entries. Without the consent of the three parties, no other individual or entity has the right to put these works into practical use.
(2) The competition organizer owns the right to display and disseminate all the entries. By uploading the entries, the participant agrees to authorize MUADAO to display the entries at any time and place and in any form of signature or anonymity to the whole society.
(3) The organizer of the competition has the absolute priority to convert the winning entries into practical applications, and the winning teams are not allowed to cooperate with third parties for conversion without discussing with the organizer. The specific conversion time, form and cooperation party shall be decided by the organizer in consultation with the participants.

By uploading the work, the participants agree to the above statements and the selection method determined by the competition organizer. Participants have read all the terms and conditions carefully before submitting their works, and fully understand and agree to them.
