As stewards of Cameron’s Pocket swimming hole we are acting as custodians of the water, its surrounding environment, and a certified organic food forest. Proper Good Vibes is committed to preserving this land’s environmental integrity while providing safe access to the community. Visitor numbers at times exceed 100 people per day, all traveling on the council gazetted road through the property. This high traffic volume prompts us to carefully assess any impact on water quality, local flora and fauna, and visitor safety.
In line with our commitment to transparency and responsible land management, we’re documenting our due diligence on the blockchain. This record will serve as a public, tamper-proof testament to our proactive approach and commitment to community safety and environmental stewardship.
Located within a certified organic food forest, Cameron’s Pocket swimming hole offers visitors a unique experience surrounded by diverse plant and animal life. This environment holds cultural significance and serves as a vital natural resource. As a 100% First Nations-owned organisation, Proper Good Vibes views its role not as land ownership but as custodianship, with a commitment to protecting this land for future generations. Increased human activity, however, poses risks to the water quality, ecosystem, and wildlife.
Our formal risk assessment request to Mackay Council is a key part of our commitment to preserving this environment while making it accessible to the public responsibly.
By publishing evidence of this request on the blockchain, we aim to create an immutable record of our commitment to taking action to protect the community and the environment. This step allows all stakeholders—including council members, community members, environmental agencies, and visitors—to verify our actions and support our commitment to sustainable stewardship.
Our formal request to Mackay Council seeks a comprehensive risk assessment to examine:
Water Quality Risks: The potential contamination from increased human activity, such as pollutants, runoff, and waste, which may impact the aquatic ecosystem.
Impact on Local Flora and Fauna: Effects of increased vehicle and foot traffic on biodiversity and habitat integrity.
Sustainability of Increased Usage: Analysis of the long-term effects of higher visitor volumes and strategies to mitigate environmental impact.
To responsibly manage visitor traffic and reduce environmental impact, we are planning several upgrades, including:
A public restroom to minimize waste contamination.
A designated car park to reduce roadside erosion and control vehicle flow.
A 1.2-kilometer walking track with fencing and educational plaques on native plant foods, aimed at fostering respect and understanding of the local ecosystem.
Publishing this document on the blockchain guarantees transparency and accountability, allowing stakeholders to verify our steps in real-time. This approach aligns with our values of open communication and responsible stewardship, while inviting the community to join us in protecting Cameron’s Pocket.
Cameron’s Pocket is a cherished natural site that we are committed to preserving for generations to come. Through council support, community collaboration, and transparent practices, Proper Good Vibes is dedicated to responsible management. We will continue to update this blockchain document as we progress through each milestone, from council approvals to construction and environmental assessments.
We invite all those who share our values to support this effort to preserve and protect Cameron’s Pocket swimming hole. Together, we can make it a model for sustainable ecotourism and environmental stewardship.
