Is anyone thinking about music product placement? Spotify and Whole Foods have the same distribution model. Premier product placement goes to the songs with the big ad budgets. How do you crack that?
I was listening to Duval’s new album on Bandcamp the other day and wondered if, assuming the same album wasn’t on Spotify (it is), would it be permissible for a fan to give the project more visibility by uploading it as a podcast. Duval’s project gets a new stage and fans on Spotify get exposure to his work. Feels like a win-win.
How do we give music liquidity? How do we make it move, allow it to exist in more places, in BETTER places?
Ultimately music may be most highly valued due to where and how it’s placed. What brands, artists, collaborators, content, memes, movies, and owners it’s associated with.
