London police block 43 encrypted phishing websites
February 10th, 2024

Pete O'Doherty, interim commissioner of the London Metropolitan Police (NFIB), revealed that the NFIB discovered a fake email address purportedly from the encryption website Blockchain.com. Authorities discovered that an additional 42 domain names were registered, including "actionfraud.info" and "depart-fraud.com," and blocked the addresses as soon as they were discovered.

The FIB urges people who have experienced cybercrime to report it through official channels and hotlines. The police said that as of December 2023, they had successfully removed nearly 300,000 malicious websites as a result of these reports. Some phishing attempts include claiming that the email recipient has won a Tupperware set.
