Finances

Mundo Lingo is free and will always be free. So how do you get paid? The Event Manager provides Venue Promotion Services to the host venues. In return, as partners, they give Event Managers 20% of the sales on food and drinks for that evening from start until close.

✏️ Some Terminology…

Event Gross

Managers take 20% of the Till (total spending by participants) during Mundo Lingo events. This is the Event Gross.

Community Fee

35% of that Event Gross is earmarked for supporting the Mundo Lingo Community. This helps finance everything from our support team, suppliers and web development, right down to basic services like your Meetup.com account, graphic designs and web hosting services. We call this the Community Fee

NCD

NCD (New City Discount) greatly reduces the Community Fee. We want your city to open 2, 3 or 4 weekly events. However, we know that new cities need room to breathe while they grow. So to encourage early growth we apply the NCD (on all events in that city) for the first year, bringing the Community Fee down from 35% to as little as 8%

SPP

Our website provides you with weekly reports where you will see ‘SPP’ (Spending Per Person). This a useful indicator to gauge if either your public are consuming less than expected, or if drinks are possibly not being correctly registered by the venue. SPP varies around the world, according to how many people attend and how long they stay. Big crowds stay longer and drink more.

As a rough guide, you could expect this number of drinks (Per Person)

0 - 50 Participants = 0.8 drinks 50 - 99 Participants = 1.2 drinks 100 - 149 Participants = 1.8 drinks 150 - 250 Participants = 2 to 3 drinks

Example

If an average beer costs $5 in your city and 180 people attend the event then the SPP should be about $10, and the venue should gross around $2000.

**From $2000 you take 20% giving you an Event Gross of $400. The Community fee after applying the NCD is 8.43% which is about $34. After paying the community fee, flags, photographers, miscellanious costs etc, you should still have around $260 - 300
