The Mundo Lingo Philosophy

Enshrined in our philosophy are the values and the resolve to maintain a social community uncorrupted by private financial interest. We ask all collaborators and participants to embody the following philosophy in their interactions with each other.

Concept

Community over private profit. We work for the community, not for ourselves. We do not use spam or data tracking, nor ask for financial payments. If participants want to give something back, they can buy a drink at the bar when good and ready. Participants are free to enjoy the spaces we provide without interference from us or advertisers. We don’t do audience participation, talk over microphones, ask you to move around, nor participate in gimmicks, novelties or games. No wristbands, ads, handing out flyers, sign-up lists, raffles, no messing around. We respect each others personal space.

Mission

"Build community locally, in-real-life, online and around the world.”

It’s Free

Mundo Lingo exclusively organizes and promotes free activities. Here’s why:

  • It makes our public feel valued as people, not customers.

  • It lets them know that our warm welcome is genuine (not because “cha-ching!”)

  • We ensure that Collaborators focus on the product, not the marketing.

Commissions

We do not offer nor accept financial incentives for referrals to our events or organization. Our focus remains exclusively on providing the specific service of venue promotion, as detailed in Mundo Lingo’s Event Operations Manual (EOM).

The Shy, the Unique and the Specials

As a community we welcome the specials and the unusuals. We offer a space for people to socialize without the unforgiving judgement of the conformist societies we live in. We know now, that these unique characters are often the most interesting personalities to join our gatherings and even fill the ranks of our teams.

We don’t avoid them, we proactively engage them. Keep this idea with you. Force yourself to talk to the ‘weirdo’ in the corner, help unleash more treasurable characters into the community.

Interference

Leave the public alone. Mundo Lingo is simple; collect some flags and stay standing to socialize. No further requests. We value a ‘no-nonsense’ approach, free of gimmicks and beaucracy.

Accordingly, we avoid:

  • Gimmicks and mandatory games.

  • In-event games, raffles, karaokes

  • Requests to dress a certain way

  • The use of accessories such as wristbands.

  • Directing participants to gather, sit, move, turn around, clap, moo…

  • Collecting personal data, registrations, guest lists, QR verifications.

  • Distributing surveys or questionnaires

Spam

Our communications with the public are to the point and of interest. We don’t bombard them with repeated messages, incite them to purchase products or visit the pages of other organizations.

Cross Promotion

Cross-promotion requests are common, but our commitment to an authentic and spam-free network means we do not promote other organizations. This ensures our communications are genuine and focused on our mission. We owe a debt of gratitude to our allies in other organizations for their continued support.

Politics

Mundo Lingo flags represent the languages and cultures of people, not nations.
We reject any perceived affiliation between the flags and any governments that sometimes cover themselves with those flags to lend authority their actions. We wear flags for the languages and dialects that we speak. Talking about politics however, is encouraged. Play nicely!

Branded Solidarity

The brand of Mundo Lingo doesn’t make appeals for empathy, sympathy or solidarity. We believe it’s disingenuous for a brand to do so. This is so important to us that we made a seperate pBranded Solidarity guide here.

Now what?

Next up, let’s talk 🙊 Communications
