Introducing Swappland

It's been a little while, but we've been hard at work! This past month we soft-launched our first project Swappland on Near mainnet. It's an NFT secondary marketplace on Near. It is the first project on Near to allow NFT for NFT swapping, eventually NFT for any token swapping, as well as 1155 for 1155/ Near's equivalent .

Wait Why?????

When we first started Ships, we were excited about helping projects create token economies. That said there were no secondary markets for people that create their own NFTs on Near. We believe in NFTs as a form of tradeable membership. So not having an open secondary market was a bit of a blocker for us.

We got to work and said let's build a secondary market place on Near and create the incentive structure to make the development of general NFT infrastructure on Near work with the Ships token economy philsophy.

So you're doing whaaat....

We launched Swappland, as a project 0 for Ships. We're building token economic incentive structure tooling. We have created open source infrastructure and tooling , that's not just good for Swappland or Ships, but for the entire NFT ecosystem.

These tools need to be maintained. If we structure things, where we're the only maintainers of this, and the incentives are geared solely towards a single ownership of the marketplace, we won't be able to create a sustainable ecosystem for the project.

We want the people that use the tools, build with the tools, gain inspiration and become owners of the innovation and opportunities for profit in developing the NFT ecosystem on Near .

So is it live?

You bet, check out Swappland . We haven't introduced the contributor mechanics yet, because we're still building out a few things, and gaining traction within the space. The goal is to get enough traction to introduce the DAO mechanics we've been working on and build as we go!

What's next

We are learning, and actively looking for people that are building projects that need NFT infrastructure. Join us, Join us on discord and get in early, we're experimenting with building in a new way.

The basic premise is can we build a meme around NFT infrastructure on Near, and use fees from the project to sustain the meme.
