but to cut the story short… It’s another episode of the Optimistic Alpha filled with Data.

Just to iterate (for those who might be new); the aim of the Optimistic Alpha is to Provide you with information, on-chain and off-chain activities that can boost your reputation and also reward you within the Optimism and superchain ecosystem.

Lets get right into it:

1. SuperLumio by Potem Network joins Optimism SuperChain (Live on Mainnet)

Potem Network announced the Mainnet of its’ new L2 solution, “SuperLumio”.

SuperLumio, Pontem's latest Ethereum Layer 2 (L2) solution, promises faster transactions and reduced fees similar to Optimism. Built with the OP Stack, it supports proto-dank sharding, offering transaction fees as low as $0.01. SuperLumio is part of Superchain, a network of L2 solutions ensuring security and seamless integration.

Using SuperLumio

SuperLumio is now live on the mainnet, enabling real transactions. Users can integrate it with MetaMask and use Pontem's bridge to transfer ETH. Additionally, a DEX called NarSwap will soon allow token swaps on SuperLumio.

Decoding the Lumio Universe

Lumio, Pontem's broader L2 project, is adaptable to different blockchains. SuperLumio represents its first mainnet iteration, while xLumio, formerly Lumio on testnet, is still in testing but will eventually go live on the mainnet too.

2. Lisk is live on Sepolia testnet

In partnership with Gelato, Lisk has finally launched its L2 testnet. Previously wrote on Lisk here.

Lisk introduced its Sepolia Testnet earlier than expected, marking a significant move towards becoming an L2 platform using Optimism's OP Stack within the Ethereum ecosystem. With a focus on Emerging Markets, Lisk aims to democratize blockchain accessibility, particularly for real-world assets and decentralized physical infrastructure networks.

Builders are invited to explore the Testnet sandbox, which offers various integrations and developer tools for experimentation.

Key Integrations and Tools:

• Superchain Faucet for obtaining testnet tokens.

• Lisk Bridge for asset transfer between Lisk L2 and other blockchains.

• Explorer by BlockScout for user-friendly blockchain data access.

• RPC API by dRPC for direct blockchain interaction.

• Price Feeds by Redstone Oracle for reliable DeFi application data.

• Additional services by Gelato for automation and enhancement of application development.

3. Heroes of Mavia on Base

HOM recently announced building on Base Network.

Mavia has chosen Base as its Layer 2 (L2) solution to scale its ecosystem, citing reasons such as shared vision, speed, cost-effectiveness, robust infrastructure, and backing from Coinbase. Base's attributes align well with Mavia's objectives, particularly in supporting its mobile playerbase and in-game marketplace.

ICYDK, Heroes of Mavia is an online multiplayer blockchain-based strategy game where players use their base and army to battle other players and compete for real cryptocurrency in a play-to-earn fashion.

4. Ancient8 Mainnet goes live

Ancient8 launches Mainnet, a milestone in empowering builders and gamers. It merges OP Stack with Celestia, becoming Ethereum's Layer 2 for gaming.

From Testnet success to Mainnet, Ancient8 refines its network. It fosters an ecosystem for innovative gaming experiences. Strategic partnerships aim for infrastructure standardization. Games like Onchain Clash, Omnizone, MasterDuel, Wee Pepe, and DeWorld leverage Ancient8's ecosystem. The future promises advancements in autonomy and scalability.

In recognition of early adopters and contributors, Ancient8 introduces an exclusive campaign offering exciting roadmaps, prestigious badges of honor, and opportunities to commemorate contributions to the success of the Ancient8 Chain.

Not to forget that Ancient8 also raised a total of $10 million across multiple rounds.

5. Mode mainnet launch and airdrop campaign

Mode Launched its mainnet and an airdrop campaign termed “Mode Sunrise” in January. Since then Modes’ ecosystem has seen some exponential growth with its’ TVL reaching over $88 million (as of the time of this writing).

With a grant from Optimism, Mode aims to reward users for contributing to ecosystem growth through past activity, bridging to Mode, and inviting friends to join the network.

550 million $MODE tokens (5.5% of the total supply) have been allocated for the campaign, rewarding users based on the points they earn. These tokens will be distributed among various categories, including a points airdrop, additional tokens based on Total Value Locked (TVL), and a lottery for NFT winners among the top 20% of participants.

How to Earn Points

Users can earn points through past on-chain activity across various protocols, bridging assets to Mode, inviting friends, and using ecosystem apps. Points earned by friends invited to Mode also contribute to the inviter's rewards. Additionally, completing quests will offer boosted points.

The campaign spans multiple phases: Mode Sunrise (Now to April), focused on bridging, inviting friends, and using ecosystem apps; DeFi ecosystem and Native Yield (Feb/March), supporting Mode's Native DeFi ecosystem applications; and Mode DAO and Token Launch (April), where users can govern the protocol and receive MODE tokens based on earned points.

6. Optimism Airdrop #4

Optimism unveiled Drop #4, dispersing 10,343,757.81 OP tokens to 22,998 unique addresses as a gesture of gratitude towards the artists, innovators, and trailblazers who have contributed to the Superchain and the broader crypto ecosystem.

The airdrop signifies Optimism's maiden distribution across the Superchain, celebrating the collaborative spirit among OP Chains.

A snapshot of addresses was captured on Jan 10, 2024, with detailed eligibility criteria provided in the documentation. The Superchain flourishes with creative expression, boasting over 200,000 addresses engaged in crafting NFT collections, shaping the narrative of the Optimism Collective.

Airdrop #4 is designed to incentivize constructive engagement, granting recipients a voice in governance. Optimism still has a 19% allocation of the total initial token supply to distribute through subsequent airdrops, with approximately 560m OP tokens reserved for future distributions.

7. Optimism RetroPGF3 Learning and Reflection

The Optimism Foundation released a detailed Learning and reflections of RetroPGF3.

Check out what RetroPGF means and How it works to get the context and importance of these learnings in the DAO.

Learning and reflection period is a time to review past decisions, outcomes, and overall performance. It involves analyzing successes, failures, and lessons learned to foster continuous improvement and informed decision-making within a DAO.

In the case of Optimism, these learnings will be a path to the design of RPGF4. It’s already happening as Optimism just partnered with EZKL; a retropgf3 recipient to verify the integrity of the RetroPGF initiative. This was one of the key learnings of RetroPGF3.

8. AERO and VELO Rally

Over the past 2 weeks, both $AERO and $VELO has made a significant rally with $AERO doing over 400%, reaching it’s ATH ($0.6613) and $VELO over 100%.

This rally happened following an investment announcement on Aerodrome by Coinbase ventures.

Aerodrome is a fork of Velodrom v2 and boosts to be central liquidity hub on Base, combining a powerful liquidity incentive engine, vote-lock governance model, and friendly user experience.

Looking to maximize earning on aerodrome and velodrome, I wrote a simple strategy to maximize farming on these protocols.
