Hekonai #12

Once again, I approached the portals.

Their orbit changed its alignment to surround me. The portals grew in size and began to swirl around me but I held up my hand. I want to see you all together, I thought to myself.

They suddenly split apart then reassembled beneath me like a floor. This made me smile. I started walking the panels, studying them for inspiration.

I found it when I spotted Shintaro, the artist who redesigned me. He sat in the corner of a crowded ramen bar in Tokyo, hunched over his laptop. His face was a mask of concentration.

I touched his portal with my sword and slipped down into the world it showed. Once again, I was teleported into his perspective.

Through his eyes, I saw he'd finished his portrait of me. The lines were more elegant and the colors richer. I was touched by the talent and love he'd poured into it.

I then saw him send the portrait to a fellow artist. He signed it "a token of my friendship."

The word "token" caught my eye. That's what the CyberBanker said: tokenize yourself.

As inspiration hit me, I zoomed up and out of the portal.
