CyberLetter #7: Bi-Weekly Community Updates

CyberConnect is a decentralized social graph protocol that helps developers bootstrap network effects and build powerful social dApps while returning data ownership back to users.

Through our publicly accessible protocol, we are democratizing social connections and making social graphs self-sovereign, portable, composable, blockchain-agnostic, and contextually meaningful.

If you like what we are building, make sure to check out our site, subscribe to this newsletter, check out our Mirror, and follow us on Twitter.

🚀 ETH-Shanghai Hackathon Wrapped Up

The 11-day event ran from 05/20 to 05/31. CyberConnect bounty for building a promising web3 social dApp received 16 submissions from 39 developers. Out of the 16, we evaluated 12 as qualified bounty candidates and awarded 4 projects as winners. The complete hackathon report can be found here.

🛠 Development of v0.2 of Link3.to Underway

Our team has been hard at work shipping v0.2 of Link3.to for launch. Stay tuned for some major updates and new features. Something special is in store for on-chain communities 👀

🪩 Consensus 2022

We hosted a cocktail night with Project Galaxy, BNB Chain, and a few other partners in Austin, Texas where we had the chance to meet with many of you. We’re filled with gratitude and optimism from the support we received throughout the conference. The future of decentralized social is looking bright as ever.

Protocol

  • v0.4 and v0.5 of the CyberConnect Developer Center were deployed on May 31st and June 10th respectively. With these updates, the Dev Center now covers several new sections:
    • iOS SDK

Our new Swift Library encapsulates complex authentication logic into easy-to-use functions.

    • Profile & Avatar API

Profile API can be used for querying the profile metadata of an Ethereum address or ENS name. Avatar API is used for querying the ENS avatar of an address.

    • Bidirectional Connection API

We now allow users to form bidirectional connections recorded and verified on the blockchain, which can express friend relationships in some contexts, but we’re not limiting the use cases for it.

    • Notification

Querying your users’ latest updates (new followers, followings, friends, etc.) can’t be easier with the help of Identity API.

    • GitHub Verifier

We now allow users to verify their GitHub accounts with a few simple steps. Developers can integrate easily into our Social Verifier suite.

  • We’ve released a video tutorial for our Scaffold-ETH-CyberConnect Starter Kit so that developers can easily integrate with CyberConnect SDKs and APIs using Scaffold-ETH, a collection of common Ethereum dev tools.

What’s Next?

  • We’re excited to share that the design of CyberConnect Explorer is well underway! The explorer will enable project partners, developers, and users to visualize various social graph components in an aggregated view.

Product

We’re thrilled about all the support that Link3.to has been receiving. So far, over 100 projects have been onboarded with 81 of them verified. Just over 30 projects are already using their Link3.to link in their Twitter bio. We’re also seeing an average of 1000+ page visits daily with over 500+ unique visitors.

We’re heads down developing the next iteration with an ambitious roadmap in place. More details to come soon 🚀

Community

  • We organized a Sticker Competition that ended on June 07, 2022. We are now in the process of reviewing the submissions. Winners will be decided by community voting which will begin this week.
  • Our writing contest on Layer3 ended a week ago and received over 100+ submissions. Thanks to all the community members that took the time to submit their content pieces. We are reviewing them and will be announcing the winners as soon as the evaluation is complete.
  • We also hosted a community call on June 10th with over 5000 attendees on Discord. During the community call, we shared our recent updates and answered some questions from the community. For members who attended the call and filled out the form, we have prepared them with special Community Call OATs.
  • Now with over 35,000 members, our discord family is stronger than ever. As our community grows, we’re adding more community moderators to make sure we keep building this momentum. If you haven’t already, you can join our discord here.
