Recall the Ecofrontiers Map?
This initial prototype of an interactive map interface for displaying, funding, and incubating green crypto-assets was deployed by us—Pat and Louise—in November 2023, in parallel with our work on The Green Crypto Handbook. The project originally featured eight different asset providers and six asset types, for a total of 26 green crypto-assets—classified according to our published taxonomy. A basic filtering feature was included to enable searches by asset type and issuer, though the design was admittedly rudimentary.
This prototype laid the groundwork for what has now evolved into a more comprehensive project: The Regen Atlas.
The Atlas aims to address key challenges in the decentralized green asset market. It provides a unified interface for discovering assets beyond carbon, a platform for environmental projects to promote their initiatives, and a way for users to explore a diverse range of green crypto-assets. Since our last update, the Regen Atlas has undergone significant refinement. It’s transitioned to a second version with a more visually appealing design and enhanced user interface that greatly improves navigation and interaction. This new version now includes over 77 assets from 12 different providers. To see these developments in action, check out the new prototype on GitHub.
Prezenti, Team Expansion, and Spinout
We are pleased to announce that The Regen Atlas have received a grant from Prezenti to continue developing the platform. With this, the project is able to expand its team to five members. The grant project plan will conclude with the release of a new prototype focused on green asset providers in the Celo ecosystem, a brand new UI/UX, and a payment option for buying green assets on Celo. This completed prototype will also be presented at Celo Kuneco. Stay tuned for a more detailed announcement from the Regen Atlas’ end.
Ecofrontiers will continue to be a key contributor to the Atlas, but we have to acknowledge that it is no longer ours and ours alone. It is now the product of a larger team of co-founders who will work to make the Atlas grow. Ecofrontiers—Louise and Pat—will continue to be key co-founders of the Atlas, but we will also continue to provide high quality advisory and research as an independent, two-person agency.
We could not be more excited for this next stage of the Atlas’ development as we push forward green crypto. Onwards!
