Kwenta is offering a new tool for SNX stakers. A unique perps market, $DEBT-PERP, is joining the growing list of supported cryptocurrencies, commodities, and forex pairs available for leverage trading through Kwenta on Layer 2 Optimism. Please be aware that hedging via $DEBT-PERP is experimental, comes with unique risks, including but not limited to the risks described here, and performance against an individual debt position is not guaranteed. Please familiarize yourself with and understand the risks of SNX staking and using perps markets before utilizing this tool.

What is $DEBT-PERP?

The $DEBT-PERP market tracks a simulated SNX stakers debt position, increasing and decreasing at the same rate a stakers debt would change relative to their initial debt. This is accomplished using the existing Chainlink oracle which tracks the SNX debt ratio, using this ratio as the sUSD value of a perps market asset.

Note that this not for the total amount of debt, but for the debt-share relative "price" (debt inflation / deflation)

With the Kwenta mobile launch trade competition completed, we want to express sincere gratitude to the community, and all that participated. We would also like to extend a huge thanks to Kwenta Core Contributors that worked tirelessly to ensure the competition went smoothly. Let’s check out some details of what happened during the competition in the markets, the activity on Kwenta, and present the final winners and prizes!

Kwenta disqualified two addresses from the competition for not trading through the Kwenta Frontend. While these futures markets can be interacted with directly on a contract level, this was a Kwenta sponsored event and only traders trading through Kwenta should be eligible for prizes. Addresses 0xccb...f6492 & 0x34a...2370c were thus removed from the competition leaderboard.

Even if your wallet address was not in the top 5 of the leaderboard in the UI when the competition ended, please double check for your address here, or check you wallet. You may still receive a prize!

During the competition, traders placed over 1,112 trades, generating $113,277,004.26 in volume! Due to high volatility during the competition, Kwenta saw an all time high level of liquidations with 103 wallets being liquidated for $10,492,704 sUSD on August 17th alone! That’s a lot of damage!

The Kwenta ethos has always been to “provide open and accessible financial tools for all” and a mission to decentralize as much of itself as possible. While this has always been a core value, recent events in the crypto space have highlighted the need to continue decentralizing everything possible as quickly as reasonable. With this release, Kwenta hits a major milestone in its effort for an advanced decentralized deployment outlined in KIP-22.

How web2 works and what does IPFS change?

Before discussing how IPFS functions, it helps to appreciate how we currently access web content. Let's say you wish to download a picture off the web. By doing that, you instruct the computer exactly where to look for the picture. The IP address, or domain name in this instance, indicates the location of the image. This is called "location-based" addressing; you tell the computer where to get the data. You won't obtain the image if that site isn't reachable (the server might be down, for instance).

Although it's likely that someone else has already downloaded the image and still has a copy of it, your computer won't be able to get a copy from them. IPFS switches from "location-based" to "content-based" addressing to overcome this issue. You merely need to state "what" you want rather than "where" to find it.

Kwenta is a decentralized exchange that allows for trading without the need for web2 credentials & uses an aggregate price feed which reduces the risk of liquidations from temporary wicks. Following this guide, traders can open/close and manage positions on the Kwenta Mobile interface like pros!

Getting A Wallet

If you do not have a wallet yet, you can download and use MetaMask on most mobile devices.

Perpetual Futures are deployed and accessible on the layer 2 scaling solution Optimism. While most wallets come with out-of-the-box support for Optimism, if yours does not, you can add the required network as a custom network by using these details.

With the latest release, Kwenta introduces a new feature: Next Price orders. In short, Next Price orders allow Kwenta to offer a low fee alternative for genuine traders while avoiding frontrunning opportunities. Let’s dive into it:

TL;DR on Next-Price Orders

  • There is a Keeper fee of 5 sUSD. It is refundable only if the trader cancels the order.
  • There is a Commitment fee which is equal to the Market Order fee. The difference with the lower Next Price Order fee is rebated to the trader once the order executes successfully.
  • If for any reason the next price order fails or is canceled, traders forfeit the commitment fee.

With the launch of Futures, a brand new UI, a native token, and a plethora of under-the-hood upgrades, Kwenta has evolved beyond its early days. To mark Kwenta's transition to V2, the community is requesting a new website to better reflect the current state of Kwenta and the ambitious roadmap ahead. To create a new website, Kwenta will be launching a V2 website design competition.

The Task: Design a landing page for Kwenta

As part of Kwenta's new trading experience, the Kwenta website will receive a complete V2 upgrade. The submissions for this competition will be used for the live version of the website. Below you'll find the steps for the competition structure.

Step 1: Application
