The population of the neighborhood included in the Union of Parishes of Algés, Linda-a-Velha and Cruz Quebrada-Dafundo waited 13 years for the work.

The first stone of the temple, which will be dedicated to the Holy Trinity, was laid on June 1, 2002. Work took a while to start, first the pastoral center was built (in operation since 2008) and the church took shape but the works stopped in 2010, with the skeleton tower, and were only finished in 2015.

Part of the delay was due to a disagreement between the Fábrica da Igreja Paroquial do Cristo Rei de Algés, owner of the work, and the author of the project, the architect Troufa Real, who disagreed. In 2011, the designer complained about changes to the project, allegedly made without his consent.

In 2011, parish priest Daniel Henriques admitted that he wanted to make the work lighter and cheaper but denied that this had compromised the security of the property.

The Câmara de Oeiras, which provided the land of 2600 square meters located next to the Dolce Vita in Miraflores and paid for a third of the work (a total of 3.1 million euros were spent).

According to Troufa Real's description, the “rocket church” is based on "infinity as the horizon of Man". Hence, the bell tower (even without the bell installed) reaches 30 meters in height. the entry of natural light into the nave, a space in circumference, with curved walls, with capacity for 400 people.

On the wall behind the altar, all in immaculate white marble, there is a stained glass window in various shades of blue. They are smooth and simple glasses, without the traditional designs that evoke scenes from the Bible. Between the altar and the stained glass window, a panel inspired by the work of the Russian painter Andrei Rublev was placed, which represents the three divine characters - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - to which the temple will be dedicated this afternoon. The ceremony was conducted by the Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon, D. Manuel Clemente.
