More than a decade ago, I became obsessed with one single thing. While obsession is often demonized, I think it leads to the most transformative experiences in life. Let me tell you why.

Usually, people hearing the word “crypto” either associate it with pure speculation or with pseudo-crypto-influencers selling their umpteenth training course to get super rich super fast or, even worse, to entire pseudo-crypto-bank like FTX playing with billions of dollars. Mainstream media stop there because these are the juiciest things to talk about — headlines sell, knowledge does not —. This is heartbreaking knowing that an entire industry led by strong values (open-source, transparency, decentralization, privacy protection, etc.) is trying to push things forward. As part of this space, my goal is to spread knowledge and educate people about it. This article should open your eyes to this industry.

Although Finance has a bad notoriety, I work in the Decentralized Finance (DeFi) space. To understand why, you can read Why do I DeFi. In short, everyone would benefit from a fairer, more transparent, and more resilient financial system than the existing one.

We’re witnessing more and more instability factors such as climate change, economic inequalities within a country, decrease in key resources like oil and drinkable water, etc. Those factors are generally interconnected, e.g., a decrease in oil production could decrease the energy available to produce drinkable water. And lack of drinkable water could trigger a war, say, in The Middle East, and induce global fuel shortage. You get it.

I’ve been recently talking about stress with some friends. It usually revolves around handling stressful events, and how to bear stress in everyday life. Stress when badly handled kills you. Literally. And if it does not kill you, it greatly hurts your life.

During my studies, I learned about finance and the economy by watching YouTube videos and reading books. I was concerned that financial crises or instabilities would undermine entire economies or populations and broaden inequalities. While finance is supposed to support the economy, it fails at it, sometimes doing the exact opposite. It’s obvious that we must fix it.
