Hello, Flix Fam! Welcome aboard to the 65th OmniFlix Community Update, your express pass to all the latest happenings in the Flixverse!

1) Protocol Engineering

Last week’s updates were focused on preparing for the upcoming upgrade. Currently being tested on the FlixNet-4 testnet, the v0.12.0 upgrade will include:

  • gas optimization within the ITC module

  • code refactoring (moved marketplace to x/marketplace and updated the codebase for easier integrations)

  • Packet Forward Middleware / PFM is being added

  • ICA host capabilities for the OmniFlix Hub

2) Application Engineering

  • Last week’s focus was on updating the current apps to their latest versions.

  • Updated the inSync app after a long time to support delegations to multiple validators. Within inSync, support for a Claim and Stake option has been added instead of just claiming rewards. These releases will go live in the next few days after going through required PRs and dependency bumps.

  • OmniFlix TV has also been a focus and if you are a creator looking to use OmniFlix TV, do not hesitate to reach out to us. If you are a creator with video content, do not hesitate to reach out to OmniFlix by sending a DM on Twitter.

3) Governance

Proposal #14 - Rejected

In a recent community vote, Proposal #14 - aimed at increasing the total active validator seats on the OmniFlix network from 75 to 80 - did not receive the majority support. With 59.30% of voters opting 'No', the proposed amendment was rejected. This means that the existing status quo will prevail and the total active validator set on the OmniFlix network will remain at 75.

Despite the outcome, we commend Panvasi from ApeironNodes for their proposal, and we look forward to the continual robust dialogue around our network's evolution.

Below are governance proposals that were voted on by the OmniFlix Network validator as a part of the operations while validating the below chains/networks.

3a) Osmosis

  • Voted Yes - 570, 571, 572, 573, 574 & 575

3b) Juno

  • Voted Yes - 311

There was a proposal from Sentinel, Osmosis & Stargaze chain that we missed voting. We will be streamlining operations even more from a governance standpoint.

4) Ecosystem Updates

4.1) FlixDrop is ablaze!

The FlixDrop campaign has been successfully running for a week! We're thrilled to see our dedicated Cosmonauts and early OmniFlix supporters actively claim their FLIX and seamlessly stream them into their accounts via StreamPay.

4.2) OmniFlix Network is lighting up on Map of Zones

The FlixDrop has ignited the Map of Zones community like never before! In just the past 24 hours, we've seen a staggering 24,131 transactions, and an impressive 125,480 transactions over the last week. Not to mention, our Monthly Active Users have skyrocketed to 21,467 strong! Yet, this is just the beginning, as the vast expanse of the Flixverse continues to unfold and gain momentum.

4.3) OmniFlix at TEDx Hyderabad's Samaaro Event

We're thrilled to announce our vibrant partnership with TEDx Hyderabad Salon's Music Art Culture event, affectionately titled Samaaro! As proud partners, OmniFlix orchestrated an immersive NFT experience where attendees claimed exclusive Proof of Participation NFTs, creating a lasting digital memento of the exhilarating evening.

During the event, curious creators huddled with our FlixCrew, taking a deep dive into the expansive world of Web3 and discovering the power of minting their creative masterpieces as NFTs. The air was buzzing with creativity as renowned artists led master classes, infusing the event with an extra layer of artistic insight.

The highlight of the event was a live painting session by the esteemed artist Ranjit Roy. Keep an eye out for the making of this spectacular artwork on OmniFlix TV, and anticipate the upcoming NFT auction on OmniFlix.market. The proceeds from the auction are dedicated to supporting a worthy cause, showcasing the power of art and technology combined.

But that's not all, there's more excitement on the horizon! We're currently in discussions to partner with the annual TEDx Hyderabad Ignite 2023 event. 4.4) Seamlessly explore OmniFlix NFTs on Leap Wallet

5.2) FlixFriday - August Edition

FlixFriday August Edition ran from August 3rd to 5th was a huge success! The campaign brought the spotlight on creators, featuring auctions and fixed-price NFT listings under $5 in FLIX and other IBC supported tokens. A total of 34 collections were part of this grand event, bringing an incredible variety to the Flixverse. As a bonus, we ran a contest for our community to reward the top 50 wallets who took part in the campaign with 100 $FLIX each.
