Mirror Analysis: Week 3 in Review (2024)

This entry is part of the series: Mirror Entries Analysis. Each week, Post3 utilizes data extraction and data analysis techniques to deliver insightful reports with information concerning authors, articles, revenue, chains, keywords, and more, derived from exploring Mirror data.

For Week 3, we tackle the following questions:

  • Who are the authors from whom people have collected the most?

  • Which entries were the most collected?

  • Which authors generated the most revenue?

  • Which entries generated the most revenue?

  • What was the networks/chains usage?

  • Who caught our attention this week?

⚠️ Note: The number of collections/mints of some entries might have changed at the time I’m writing.

Let's begin to analyse 5915 posts collected from Week 3.

1 - Who are the authors/publications from whom people have collected the most?

The number of times an article has been collected/minted serves as a valuable metric to understand an author's popularity on Mirror. The “Author“ is the publication/newsletter, some authors such as protocols and ecosystems have several contributors that write to their publications. Let’s take a look at the top 10 whose work has attracted more collectors.

This week, Linea is clearly the winner in terms of collections, with more than 550 mints and probably already surpassed 600 at the time I’m writing. Other L2 solutions follow, Base got 2nd place, and Mode in the 3rd place. All their entries are free, but thanks to the new reward system implemented by Mirror later last year, they all generated significant revenue. Bool Network is new on Mirror and got 5th place, it is a Bitcoin verification layer, a project worth exploring.

Below is the list of the authors/publications with the most collections on Week 3:

  1. Linea

  2. Base

  3. Mode

  4. GameSwift

  5. Bool Network

  6. Taiko Ecosystem

  7. Nakamigos

  8. Aethos

  9. Pike Finance

  10. Nexis Network

2 - Which entries were the most collected?

Some authors publish several times in a weekly period, which grants them more collections than others. But we need to take a look at entries individually, to see which ones perform better. These are the top 10 entries:

  1. Linea Voyage Waypoint: Road to Dencun

  2. Base Meetups Go Open Source

  3. Memes Enable Mode’s Evolution

  4. The $385M+ GameSwift DAO Tresury is Now Live!

  5. Bool Network: An Innovative solution to BTC Verification Layer

  6. Mint "Hello Taiko" NFT by Omnisea - Alpha 6 (Katla)

  7. Guide to Crypto Trading Cards (1880-1979)

  8. Aethos: Decentralized Infrastructure for Values Expression

  9. Testnet 2.0 is now live

A piece showing Important updates on Linea, got the most collections by far, generating a considerable amount of revenue only from rewards. This is followed by an article about Base meetups. In the last position, an airdrop is spotted by LayerBank. A total of 250000 $LAB.m airdrops are planned for the top 200 depositors & borrowers of $MANTA.

3 - Which authors/publications generated the most revenue?

Revenue serves as an indicator of one's ability to attract and retain people to mint their content. Here we’ll take a look at the top 10 authors that generated the most revenue from minted entries, and how it correlates with collections.

Taiko Ecosystem dominates in terms of revenue, while having way fewer collections than the second position (Linea). In the third place, we have berabonk, a meme and social token designed to empower the Berachain ecosystem community. On the 9th position, it’s Aethos, a new protocol.

Below is the list of authors/publications with the most revenue:

  1. Taiko Ecosystem

  2. Linea

  3. berabonk

  4. Base

  5. GameSwift

  6. Mode

  7. Bool Network

  8. Nakamigos

  9. Aethos

  10. Pike Finance

4 - Which entries generated the most revenue?

Just like in collections, revenue must be studied individually. People might be loyal to their favourite authors, but in the end, they will mint what they really like or find useful. Studying entries individually is important for writers to understand what kind of content people are willing to mint, and at what price. Below, are the top 10 entries with the most revenue:

  9. Aethos: Decentralized Infrastructure for Values Expression

  10. Testnet 2.0 is now live

5 - What was the networks/chains usage?

Understanding the usage of L2 chains for minting NFT articles, is key for writers to decide which network should they use. The following pie chart only compares the usage, other metrics should be taken into account, such as the type of articles that are being published in each chain and so on.

Optimism dominates in terms of L2 usage with 98.8 % of the entries using it as the minting network. In this week’s second place, we have Base with 0.5 % usage, Linea with 0.3 %, Zora with 0.3 %, and now Polygon with 0.1 %.
